Equal Time: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Wikipedia is quick to point out that Ben Stein's "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" is just "political propaganda" and its contributors attempt to discredit any of the information used in the film which suggests "Intelligent Design" as taboo in the thoughts or theories or modern academia and tht those who may even reference it in the studies , papers or lectures will ultimately be discredited and blackballed.

Well, Wikipedia obviously never went to class with my daughter when she witnessed any comments of intelligent design or creationism met with instant ridicule. Statements such as "anyone who believes in that are ignorant and stupid" or "that is for the religious freaks" are the norm, and are definitely not the exception.

I am not here to advance the perceived motivations of this film. But, I will be looking into many of the points addressed within it, as this is not the first time I had been made aware of the ideas.

It stands to reason, if you believe that we all morphed out of a primordial muck, a well orchestrated accident of protein convergence without any pre-existing catalyst, that the existence of all life is purely by chance, then you should not have any real purpose for being alive. We all just came into existence, with none to answer to, or even thank for our existence. You can do whatever you like, there are no eternal repercussions, just the hell this earth will deal out to you.

I will continue on in a series of posts, and interestingly, utilize Wikipedia's outline of some of the precepts of the film as a guide to explore some of Expelled's main points concerning Darwinisms relation to political though and influences on national and public policy.
